Piarist Fathers Outreach Program

Mrs. Audrey Collins, the current director of the Piarist Fathers Outreach Program which serves Eastern Kentucky.  Eastern Kentucky is one of the poorest regions in the United States.  Audrey first became involved with the Outreach Program as a volunteer but soon took over as Director in 2003. Working with Fr. Tom Carroll Sch.P. and hundreds of volunteers over the years. Audrey under the direction of the Piarist Fathers has built the Outreach Program as a beacon of hope for many living in Eastern Kentucky. It is easy to see that the Outreach Program is more than a job for Audrey and more than just a mission for the Piarist Fathers. It is a lifelong love affair with helping others. Talking with Audrey, you quickly are enveloped with her passion to serve others in need.  We are grateful for her commitment. Today, Audrey works with the current headmaster Fr. John Callan Sch.P. and the Assistant Headmaster Fr. Sunil Kumar Damiyanose, Sch.P. in charge of Piarist Identity.

In 2003, the Piarist Outreach Program provided Christmas gifts for over twenty families in the local Hollers in Eastern Kentucky who could not afford them. That part of the Piarist Outreach program still exists today but has grown to over five hundred families and the occasional visit from Santa Claus. (Fr. David Powers Sch.P.)

Another important project within the Piarist Outreach Program is the Emergency Repairs Project. People with a need for emergency home repairs, who are in need, contact the Outreach Program for an initial assessment. If the project is approved, the project is assigned to one of the up to 5 or 6 groups who visit from various parts of the country, stay locally and fellowship with the local Piarist community during meals and the celebration of mass.  Groups provide the labor and materials to complete these emergency home repairs. Repairs can range from floor repairs to plumbing and roofing repairs. Hundreds of people in need have benefitted from these services over the years.

In addition, the Piarist Outreach Program runs numerous clothing and food drives throughout the year. It is common for Social Services to reach out for help from the Piarist Outreach Program. People in need of food, clothing and toiletries also benefit from the Piarist’s efforts. If you are in need, the Piarist Fathers Outreach heart and door are always open.
